CANVAS GICLEE* PRINT:The image is printed on artists' canvas. A digital image of the original painting is printed using a large-format, commercial, fine-art printer, with archival inks on the rolled canvas (fabric) media. The canvas print is then stretched and fastened to wood stretcher boards. The image is then retouched or "artist enhanced" by the artist. This means that the print is initially overcoated with an UltraViolet (UV) light resistant coating and then partially overpainted by the artist to highlight and enhance selected colors or features of the wildlife or background elements so that every print is unique from every other. The canvas is then overcoated a second time with the clear UV-resistant coating. It should be framed without glass or plexiglas - as with an original painting - allowing the canvas to breathe and to beautifully display its image. The Stretched Canvas Giclee prints are offered in limited editions of 95, however, because each print is highlighted and partially repainted by the artist, each one looks like an original. |
*Note: The French term "Giclee" means "sprayed ink" and refers to the process of using a large format fine art printer which sprays ink on the canvas. |
